The iconic Harold's opened in 1958 by Harold and Patricia McBain serving only ice cream and hotdogs and soon grew into a thriving old fashion drive-in and started serving many more menu items. After 41 years, Harold and Pat decided to sell the Kansas City icon. In March of 1999 Nancy E. Smith purchased the business and continued the great business model. Nancy has since retired and Deb Walker took over, Nancy's two sisters, Mary Moore and Caramae Moore that have both been working at Harold's over 25 years each. Nancy's niece also still works at Harold's with a few other employees.
Harold's is best known for the Breakfast sandwiches, biscuits and gravy, and the Double Cheeseburger Special. We use the highest quality sausage and fresh cracked eggs, of which are cooked directly in front of you, same for the double cheeseburger, fries and a soda pop. The tenderloins and the Italian steak sandwiches are very popular as well. The black walnut malts and shakes are still a popular item.
Harold's has been a fixture in the Kansas City area, a staple for 58 years serving four generations of family's. Harold's is an old fashion drive-in, which is family owned and operated by a staff of four. We are an upbeat fast acting fun place to eat. Nowhere in Kansas City or anywhere can you find the highest quality fast food and friendly atmosphere. Our customers are treated like family and we take time to interact with them when time allows.
We are very different from the regular fast food chains, our products are fresh and of very high standards, we demand the best ingredients.
All of Harold's menu is prepared directly in front of each customer while they wait, watch, and socialize.
We also take phone-in orders which are very popular for people in a rush to get to work or back to work, this is a very large part of the business.
